Adult Guitar Lessons in Mississauga
It’s Never Too Late to Learn Guitar
Why Adults Learn Guitar
You've always wanted to learn.
It’s never too late to take the first step. You don’t need “natural talent” or childhood training—just a curiosity to learn and a guide to show you the way. Start turning “I wish I played” into “I’m learning.”
You finally have time.
Between work, family, and daily responsibilities, finding time for yourself can feel rare. Playing guitar is an investment in your personal time, giving you a dedicated hour each week to slow down, focus on yourself, and do something you love.
Your kids inspired you.
Watching your children learn and grow in music is infectious. Taking up the guitar lets you share that creative journey with them, lead by example, and maybe even jam together around the living room or campfire.
You want a new hobby.
Tired of the same routine? Guitar is a hands-on, deeply rewarding hobby that keeps your mind sharp, your creative energy flowing, and gives you something exciting to look forward to after a long day.
You want to relieve stress.
Unplug from screens and clear your mind. strumming a few chords at the end of the day acts as a natural reset button, helping you melt away daily stress through the rhythmic, meditative focus of making music.
You want to play your favourite songs.
Forget dry, boring exercises you don’t care about. We build your technique around the acoustic classics, rock anthems, or acoustic ballads you actually love listening to, so practice always feels fun and familiar.
You used to play and want to get back into it.
Dust off the case in the closet! Muscle memory is a powerful thing, and you’ll be surprised how quickly it comes back. We’ll help you shake off the rust, fill in the gaps, and rekindle your passion for playing.
Worried You're Too Old?
Many students young and old start from having no experience. With consistent practice and a great attitude towards learning who knows how far you will go.
Lessons Built Around Your Goals
Forget standard, cookie-cutter methods.
Adults don’t learn best through one-size-fits-all lesson books. Whether you’re aiming for the stage or just your living room, your lessons are 100% customized around the music you love and the exact skills you want to build—no rigid curriculum, no wasted time.
"I just want to play around the campfire."
Focus on the essential chords, smooth transitions, and reliable strumming patterns that keep the energy going. You’ll build a go-to repertoire of crowd-pleasers quickly, without getting bogged down in unnecessary technical fluff.
"I want to play classic rock."
Master the iconic riffs, power chords, and solos that defined generations. From dialing in the right tone to nailing legendary rhythm tracks, you’ll learn the exact techniques behind your favorite rock anthems.
"I want to finally understand music theory."
No dry, confusing textbooks here. We strip away the complexity and teach practical, “fretboard-first” theory—showing you why chords fit together, how scales work, and how to use that knowledge to improvise or write your own music.
"I want to learn fingerstyle."
Ditch the pick and discover the rich, intricate sound of fingerpicking. We’ll break down hand positioning, independent finger movement, and classic patterns step-by-step so you can play complex-sounding arrangements with ease.
"I want to accompany myself singing."
Playing and singing at the same time is a distinct skill set. We’ll work on rhythm isolation, vocal timing, and simplifying chord changes so you can comfortably sing and play together without your hands freezing up.
What you'll learn
Practical skills for real-world playing.
You won’t just memorize drills—you’ll learn the essential tools every guitarist uses to play fluently, sound confident, and make real music from day one.
Chords
Learn the fundamental shapes that make up thousands of popular songs. We’ll focus on proper finger placement to eliminate buzz and master clean, comfortable transitions between open chords.
Rhythm
Develop a strong sense of timing and groove. You’ll learn how to lock into a beat, internalize steady tempo, and feel confident keeping time whether playing solo or with others.
Barre Chords
Unlock the entire fretboard. We’ll break down the thumb positioning and hand leverage techniques needed to press down barre chords cleanly without hand fatigue or frustration.
Reading Tabs
Skip the steep learning curve of traditional sheet music. You’ll learn how to quickly read guitar tablature (tabs) so you can look up and learn almost any song on your own.
Learning Songs
Put it all together by breaking down the tracks you love. You’ll learn how to analyze a song’s structure, tackle tricky sections step-by-step, and finish songs complete from start to finish.
Strumming
Build a solid, natural strumming hand that brings your chords to life. You’ll master fluid wrist movement, dynamic control, and essential strumming patterns across different genres.
Fingerstyle
Unlock the warmth and detail of playing without a pick. You’ll learn thumb-and-finger independence, classic pattern picking, and how to play melody and harmony simultaneously.
Music Theory
Understand how music works in a way that actually makes sense on the guitar. Learn how chords are built, why certain progressions sound great, and how to unlock the fretboard logically.
Improvisation
Express yourself freely on the instrument. Learn how to take scale patterns, add emotion, and create your own lead lines, solos, or spontaneous fills over backing tracks.
Scales
Build finger agility and dexterity while learning the foundational patterns behind solos, fills, and lead lines. We’ll connect scales directly to real songs so they never feel like dry exercises.

What Happens During Your First Lesson?
F.A.Q.
Am I too old to learn guitar?
No one is ever too old to learn to play the guitar. The only requirements are a good attitude, a willingness to listen and learn, and consistency to attempt to play the guitar every day.
Do I need any experience?
Nope, you don’t need any experience. It’s fine if all you know is how to hold the guitar. Let me show you how do the rest. From tuning the guitar, to playing your first chords, to playing the solo to Stairway to Heaven, allow me to be your guide on the way to guitar mastery!
How often should I practice?
For beginner adults, it is sufficient to play for at least 10-15 minutes. For more intermediate students, play for at least the length of our lessons. At any level of playing, it is recommended that students play EVERY DAY to acheive the best results!
Should I buy an acoustic or electric guitar?
Either type of guitar will suffice to begin with. For those without a guitar, I can help recommend good affordable beginner guitars. But I will always mention the fact that you are able to rent a guitar from your local Long & Mcquade. Eventually you will want to get a guitar that matches the type of music you wish to play.
Can I learn online?
Depending on how busy you are and what age you are, young ones should be practicing at least 5-15 mins everday. For teenagers and above, I recommend that 15-30 minutes everday should be enough. But no matter what age or what skill level, in order to learn something, you should try to practice once EVERYDAY.
How long does it take to play songs?
It will always depend on the student. Some students can play songs within the first lesson. Others can take a month to play a song. It will depend on how consistently a student is attempting to play.
What styles do you teach?
I have a lot of experience playing classical guitar music, blues, 80-90s rock (think Guns ‘n’ Roses, AC/DC, Ozzy, etc.). Some lead guitar playing, rhythm guitar playing.
