Kids Guitar Lessons in Mississauga
Fun and engaging Guitar Lessons for kids in Mississauga
Why Parents Choose Private Guitar Lessons
Builds confidence
Mastering an instrument gives children a tangible proof of their own growth. As they transform challenging exercises into beautiful music, they develop a strong, quiet belief in their ability to tackle tough things—both on and off the stage.
Improves focus
Learning music is like a workout for the brain. By reading notation, keeping rhythm, and controlling technique all at once, children train their minds to quiet distractions, hone their concentration, and build attention spans that benefit their schoolwork, too.
Encourages creativity
Music provides a safe space for personal expression. Beyond learning the fundamentals, students explore tone, dynamics, and interpretation, giving them a rich, imaginative outlet to communicate their feelings and make a piece of music truly their own.
Develops patience
In a world built on instant gratification, music teaches the beauty of delayed success. Children learn that progress comes from steady, bite-sized practice, helping them embrace the learning process and value resilience over quick fixes.
Gives children a fun hobby
Music is a lifelong companion that brings pure joy. Lessons balance skill-building with play, giving kids an engaging, rewarding pastime they genuinely look forward to practicing and sharing with friends and family.
Screen-free activity
Swap passive scrolling for active creation. Playing an instrument gets kids off their devices and fully engaged in a tactile, real-world skill that refreshes their eyes, stimulates their minds, and encourages healthy offline habits.
Sense of accomplishment
There is nothing quite like the pride on a child’s face when they play a song through to the end for the first time. Reaching musical milestones offers a deep sense of pride that reinforces the value of their own hard work.
Lessons Designed Around Your Child
Favourite Songs
Kids stay engaged when they play music they actually listen to! Whether it’s pop hits, movie soundtracks, or classic rock, we blend core fundamentals into the songs they are excited to learn.
No pressure
Music should be an outlet, not a source of stress. We keep lessons relaxed and lighthearted—no rigid exam pressure or scary performance expectations, just pure enjoyment and growth.
Individual attention
Unlike big group classes where students can easily get lost in the crowd, 1-on-1 instruction means your child gets tailored guidance, instant feedback, and a lesson plan built entirely around them.
Learn at their own pace
Every child learns differently, and that’s a strength. We adapt our teaching style to match your child’s unique speed and learning style, ensuring they feel supported rather than rushed.
Positive environment
We foster a warm, encouraging atmosphere where mistakes are welcomed as part of the learning journey. Kids feel safe to explore, ask questions, and express their creativity without fear.
Celebrate small wins
From nailing a tricky chord shift to finishing their very first song, we make a big deal out of every milestone. Celebrating progress keeps kids motivated, proud, and eager to keep playing!
Lesson Options
F.A.Q.
What age should my child start?
Children can start at any age to learn to play any instrument, including the guitar. I have taught students as young 6 years old. Only a guitar and willingness to learn is required to play the guitar.
Does my child need a guitar before lessons?
Yes, you will need to have your own guitar for our guitar lessons. I can help recommend good affordable beginner guitars. But I will always mention the fact that you are able to rent a guitar from your local Long & Mcquade.
Acoustic or Electric?
Either one will work. I will be able to teach any kind of music on both types of guitars. It all comes towards preference but parents typically like to start their children with the acoustic guitar because there is no amplifier.
How often should they practice?
I like to recommend based on level and based on age.
- Beginners & 6-10 years: 10-15 minutes
- Intermediate players & teenagers: 20-30 minutes
- Advanced players & adults: 30-60 minutes
At any level or age, it is recommended that students play EVERY DAY for the best results!
How long are lessons?
The duration of lessons will depend on age and level. Typically 30 minutes is enough for beginners of all ages. Depending on attention span, younger students may be able to do 20 minute lessons instead of the usual 30 minutes.
What if my child has never played?
Most of my students are starting from the very beginning. I will set them up with a fun and interesting plan every day to practice.
What happens if we miss a lesson?
If more than 24 hours is given for an absence or depending on sudden illnesses, we can move the lesson to a later date.
Do you travel to our home?
Yes, I will travel to your home with all the necessary materials. I usually bring a stand, laptop/ipad, and my guitar. There is also the online option, which we would run on ZOOM.
Do you teach siblings?
Yes, siblings are more than welcome!
Can parents watch the lesson?
Parents are encouraged to watch and even participate in the lesson. It would help with guidance during the week as your child practices!
